Where to buy Schick Injector blades
- Quote
Postby bear2x »
Can anyone here who uses a Schick Injector Razor tell me where they buy blades? I know there are several places on the internet but I haven't been able to find any in my home town. Buying on the internet is expensive these days due to shipping costs:-),
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is there a Long's drug store near you? They sell a pack of 11 injector blades (Long's store brand) for around $3.50. All the Long's in our area stock them. I've also seen injector blades at Rite Aid drug stores, but the price isn't quite as good. Still better than mail order, I think.

Chuck, where in North Carolina do you live? That might help.

I know that WalMart carries the Schick brand, definitely not the cheapest blades available.

I've seen the schick injector blades at SOME Walgrens in Florida, as well as a house brand at CVS. You might try there.

The CVS brand is Personna, made by American Safety Razor.

I think there is an old apothacary in Beaufort along the waterfront, I am sure they would have them in there. Usually an old pharmacy would carry them, there are a number of the old pharmacies here and they all had them.
Do you know any of the Gray's? They live in Morehead City too.

Small town pharmacies may have stock left, because nobody has bought it or bothered to move it anywhere else.

Art,
Thanks for the information. I used to work in Beaufort before I retired and I know the places you are referring to.
The only Gray that come to mind is Ken Gray but he lives in Morehead City. What is these people's name. It's possible I have heard their name.

I think that might be the case with mine, the date on the box I bought had a year of 1996. Maybe I should go and buy them up!!
Pauldog, is 1996 a good vintage for injector blades?

If you have the box I'm thinking of, 1996 is the copyright year and not necessarily the year it was manufactured.
The box I'm thinking of is yellow and looks like this:

Someone else posted that they preferred the older Schick platinum blades, but I don't have enough experience with any injector blade to express a preference yet.

Chuck, I believe Ken is either my brother-in-laws father or brother, I can't remember which (my wifes sister is married to Joey Gray, but I still call him my brother-in-law). But they all live in Morehead City. My wife grew up there as a child and her family moved to Maryland but one sister stayed when she got married.
Do you happen to know any family named Cox? Specifically Samantha? She went to school with my wife and she has been trying to track Sam down for a long time but cannot find here, we assume she still lives there but we have been to 5 different places before we settled down here. She should be in her late 30's.

Paul, yes that's the box, they have a bunch of them at the apothacary down the street from me. And they are only 3.00 for 7.

If they're going for $3, I wonder if they're somewhat old stock (and the price hasn't gone up yet) or if the store just charges low prices for things.
Sometimes I'll find a pack at Walgreens on clearance for $2-$3.
The usual price around here for the Schick 7-pack is $4.50-$5 or even more. CVS charges $4 for an 11-pack of their brand, which is actually Personna.

Holy cow, this is a bit off-topic, but
Small world. My Dad's side of my family all live (or lived) in Beaufort, (pronounced "BOW-fort", not "BUFort" like the Marine base in SC is pronounced...)
I used to go to Atlantic Beach when I was a kid.

Art,
The Ken Gray I'm talking about is in his mid to early forties. His brother Joey
is named Frank. Their father is Frank so I guess Joey was called that to distinguish him from his father. Ken used to live next door to me.
I don't know any Cox's although there is a resturant on Arendell Street by that name.
JohnP,
Yes it is a small world and its good to know that there are members in this group that are familiar with The Morehead City - Beaufort NC area.
Also, thanks to the rest of those who replied. I got a lot of information on where to buy injector blades.
